Random Thoughts on a Sunday

~~~Is it summer yet? Because I’m already sick of all the cold weather laundry and it’s barely even begun to be cold.
~~~These pictures of baby Essie with a Mohawk make me say things like “wook at the boodee widdle boonieboodieawwwwww”

~~~And then looking at 6 year old Essie right after makes […]
The Raptor
I watch him run the length of the grass, hands and head in a raptor pose. He still pretends, with his younger brother chasing behind, asking me to keep watching. Just like he did when he jumped off the side of the pool for the first time, and pedaled his […]
This Week’s Headlines
I just finished reading Me and Earl and the Dying Girl yesterday. I had picked it up immediately following the Harry Potter series, but put it right back down because I wasn’t at all ready for something so different when my heart pieces were still all over the floor. But […]
My Favorite Volunteer Work
I’ve been waiting all year to get a chance to go in and help out in Erv’s preschool class.
Two years ago, I was in Essie’s class once a week, helping with center activities and getting to know her classmates.
Two years before that, I was in Ivy’s class once in a […]
An Easy Halloween
We had a low key Halloween this year. Two trunk-or-treats, a few houses, supper at a local pizza place, buckets full of candy, and a movie or two when we got home.
Costumes were not stressed about, school party snacks weren’t pinterest-worthy, but everyone was happy.
Letting Go.
Patience has never been a strength of mine. Since I was little, I’ve tried to find out what my presents were before the holidays happened. I get tired of waiting on people when I’m ready to go somewhere or be done with something. My least favorite time of year is […]
We Survived Back to School!
We are a few weeks into school now, and just finishing up Erv’s second week of preschool. I’m not going to lie…it has kicked my butt. My part-time job is definitely the busiest when school starts up (because I work with the area high schools), and I’ve started a new […]
Through the Lens Thursday: Triangle
I may have bribed him. We were going to the doctor for his four year well-child check, and our nurse had said that the “kindergarten shots” could be given at any time between ages four and six. I was already feeling so very behind, like a completely unprepared preschool […]
Back At It.
I’m sitting in a quiet office while my big three get used to their new classes on the first day of school and Ervin sleeps or plays with his grandpa. He stayed at their house last night so he wouldn’t have to take the big kids to school and then […]
