Ervin turned one month old yesterday. WHAT?! How did a month fly by without me noticing? Yes, the days have been looonnng, but the month? SHORT.
Since yes, this is *most likely* the last baby, I want to remember EVERYTHING. But I’m sleep-deprived (has anybody noticed? yeah, a little bit?). I need to record things (quickly). And I love lists. So, here’s a special Ervin-one-month-old-cause-mama-can’t-remember-squat-three-days-from-now list.
Some things Ervin likes:
**He LOVES to snuggle. If I didn’t have to pee, or eat, or change Essie’s diaper, or draw pirates for Henry, or get Ivy a drink, the two of us would be content to sit in the chair and snuggle all day long. His hair is so soft and long that it rubs on my cheek when he lays on my chest and I just love to smell it and feel it and kiss it.
**Speaking of kissing (this may be more for me than him…possibly), I think he likes me to kiss his cheeks over and over and over. They’re so inviting, and he looks straight in my eyes while I do it, or around the room, and opens his little mouth with each kiss.
His big sister loves to kiss him, too |
**He loves to be swaddled up tight, like the nurses do in the hospital. He looks like a little burrito, all snuggly and constricted, but I swear, he goes to sleep so fast when we wrap him up and he STAYS asleep. Or, lately, he just looks around, all alert and happy.
**He enjoys taking a bath
**He really likes listening to the shower run
Things Ervin DOES NOT like:
**He hates getting his diaper changed when he’s clearly telling us that he is HUNGRY.
**He really doesn’t like being so tired and not being snuggled up on somebody, which really, is the best (only?) way to fall asleep.
**He doesn’t enjoy getting naked and being put on the scale
**He’d rather not be taken out of the bath into the cold, cold world
**And okay, he doesn’t like listening to the shower run for a long time (yes, Ervin does have his limits)
