When I gave birth to big sisters Ivy and Essie, I stole my friend Stacy’s plan of action for the birth announcements. She had taken a picture of her second baby while they were still in the hospital, made the announcements on her laptop, and ordered them to be picked up that same day. She then addressed them all in the hospital and sent them out, so her recipients got them when the baby was just a few days old. I thought that was just BRILLIANT. After the stream of visitors slows way down, but you’re still stuck in the hospital, it gets boring. And quiet. So when could there possibly be a better time to get stuff like the announcements done?
That was the plan for Ervin. But, the hospital stay didn’t end up exactly like it should have. It was quiet, yes, but with the loss of my brother, I wasn’t exactly motivated.
But I still wanted to get the announcements done as fast as I could, just to GET SOMETHING DONE. With the help of Ivy a couple of days ago, we took some pictures of Baby Ervin and I got them ordered.
By the way, this was not the easiest task. I had actually tried once before to take the pictures, by myself, but Ervin is not a huge camera fan. Like, at all. But maybe it was his big sister that made it possible. She is a big helper these days.
A camera test with E. Belle (the settings weren’t quite where we needed them to be).
Baby Ervin with his mean face on, wearing one of the hats lovingly made for him by Carisa at http://alittleknitting.blogspot.com, and laying on the matching blanket that I lovingly (and painstakingly) made him when he was just a watermelon in my belly.

He did manage to be awake for the first part of the modeling session.
But it didn’t last. This is the other hat made for Big Erv by Carisa. Green is T. and Henry’s favorite color, so when we were talking about what his hat might look like, I wanted it to include the males of the family top color choice.

Teensy weensy baby feet. Is there anything better?
