Monday (yesterday) was Henry’s first snow day, ever. Today (Tuesday) was his second. And tomorrow will be his third snow day. Today was brutally cold, and thankfully, all three kids took a nice, long nap without begging to go outside. The big two did, however, get to go outside and play on Monday.
There was a lot of snow angel making, swinging, running, chasing. I am a little embarrassed to say that I watched (and laughed) from the window.
When they came inside (because Ivy got too cold), I filled up a bowl with snow and we made snow ice cream. Ivy had to have chocolate, and both of them literally sat on the couch, slurping snow ice cream, and then “snow ice cream soup” for at least an hour. I think it was a hit.
And somehow, Henry’s 36-lb frame stayed warm enough to not require any pants. Go figure.
I am a little relieved that he doesn’t have school again tomorrow. I will be exhausted, but I was supposed to have a doctor’s appointment today but rescheduled it for tomorrow (I thought getting out in the frigid cold with all of the kids would be easier tomorrow than today…we’ll see), plus we’re going bigger-car shopping! Exciting stuff.
Let’s just hope that it’s a little warmer on Thursday when Henry goes back to school. We will all be ready for it, I can guarantee that.
P.S. In case you’re curious, this is the snow ice cream recipe we used (from www.allrecipes.com):
so love that … and so would their Aunt Ginny
