Today is Henry’s Halloween party, parade, and trick-or-treating at school. They are to “use their manners” when trick-or-treating today, and I found out what that means yesterday morning. He was teaching his “baby” (a small pillow) how to trick-or-treat, and he acted it out with the pillow and everything. He told the pillow “say ‘no, thank you’ to come into the house”. It was really cute. I don’t know what else they learned, but I thought that part was pretty important. 🙂
He got to wear his costume to school today. And actually, it’s a different costume than he wore to his birthday party. Thank goodness….that mummy costume is kind of a pain in the butt! He bought himself a new skeleton costume with some birthday money, though, so now he has one that fits again (his green one from last year is just a TAD too short!). And the black and white high tops from Nana were perfect!
The other night, we carved his pumpkin. I didn’t really have the patience or energy to do more than one, so even though Henry and Ivy drew faces on ALL of the pumpkins, we only carved one. He said it was a pirate pumpkin. If you squint, you can kind of see that….one eye is bigger because it has an eye patch on it, and the mouth kind of looks like it’s saying “aaargh” (use your imaginations, people!).
Last night, at our house, I held a jewelry party in order to raise money for Cancer Research. There was a good group of ladies there (thanks for coming, by the way!), and we raised $250 for the American Cancer Society! I hope it helps…the donation is dedicated to Deb Lundberg and John Patillo, designated for cancer research, and will be made in their names.
Also, in order to “up the ante” for the fundraiser without taking any profit from the donation, I decided to turn the jewelry party into a mystery hostess show. Anyone who placed an order ahead of time earned tickets for the drawing, and everyone who came had various ways to earn tickets (ordering, being on time, RSVPing, etc). The winner of the drawing won all of the hostess benefits, which turned out to be $263 in free jewelry! Congratulations, Deana!! When the kids got home (they played at grandpa’s house during the party), Henry immediately saw an opportunity….turning my mannequin into a “scarecrow”.
And (I know this post is a lot of different stuff smushed together–sorry!), I told you that we went to T.’s cousin’s house for a jewelry show and family pictures. Here’s a sneak peek of the picture’s on Megan’s blog. They turned out so great! I’m so happy with what I’ve seen so far. Thanks, Megan!
And I am so happy you are :)! I have quite a few to edit yet… I am hoping to have them in the mail later this week!!
