I started this blog as a way to document both my family and kids, and my jewelry business. There is a lot of family stuff to write about, but I’m sure some of you are curious about how my business is going as well. And, my one-year jewelry anniversary is coming up next month. So, this post is devoted to that, and some exciting things have happened lately!
I’m going to guess that, especially if you don’t know much about direct sales (and I didn’t when I started), you thought I was nuts to sign up in the first place! Which is totally fine…it’s not a “conventional” job. But I guess somebody was telling me that I needed to do it last November, because it, all of the sudden, seemed like a great thing for our family.
What I’m about to tell you may seem like TMI, like I’m announcing my age or weight to the online world. You already know my age, and I promise, there will be NO mention of my weight!! But, you probably have some curiosity, deep down somewhere, about how I’ve been doing for the past year, so I’m just going to tell you. Why the heck not? Since I started almost a year ago, I’ve made an average of $40-50/hour. It’s crazy! And since I choose to work only 4-8 hours a week usually, I don’t spend much time at all away from the house (especially compared to a “regular” job), and this “part-time” job really pays well. Insanely well. I’ve had $800-$1000 shows and have gone home a few hours later with several hundred more dollars than I had when I left the house. Literally, I had it in my jeweled-out little hands. That’s why I called this post “work” in quotes. It doesn’t feel like work AT ALL. It feels like I get to go spend time with ladies and chat with them about jewelry, while snacking and making tons of money.
If you read my blog semi-regularly, you know that I’m always taking pictures of the kids, always writing about the silly things that happen to us throughout the day. That wouldn’t be possible if they were in day care while I was at work. And we wouldn’t have much extra money to go out and do these fun things. But, through this job, I’m able to be at home with them and see them grow up and still make hundreds of dollars a month to add to our budget.
I’m so excited, too, that I just signed my third jeweler on Sunday, and have another gal who’s going to be signing her contract this week! Of course, because my company is super generous, I have started getting a nice bonus check each month as a sponsor. But more than that, I LOVE that more women have gotten into this business because of me. Two of my jewelers are able to stay home with their kids now because of this business, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the other one stopped working full-time, too. I really believe in this business, and I think that’s why I’m able to share it so easily with women these days. It’s pretty awesome. 🙂
Oh, and in honor of my one-year anniversary, I’m going to be doing another giveaway next month, but this one will be for my blog followers. If you read it but aren’t signed up to “follow” it, you should so you can get in on the giveaway, too. It’s easy…just click “follow” over there on the right.
Good for you Greta! I think you are great at this job! It takes a special talent, one which I lack…unfortunately. I think the snacking part is all I would be good at, HA! See you Saturday!!
You've got me curious now lol…..I don't know how this site works so I had to comment as anonymous but no secrets here it's your old pal Dawn!
