I know next to nothing about parenting tweens or teens. I’m not ready for my kids to grow up to be adults. BUT, I do feel like a seasoned mother in general.
You know, like a stone pan that cooks a great loaf of bread but will still burn a pizza if you leave it in too long? Or something.
I’m seasoned enough to take the four kids to a dentist appointment together right after swimming lessons without freaking out anymore. And then to the grocery store for prescriptions and goggles afterwards. But I still get pushy when the transition from swimsuits to dentist tees takes too long and we run the risk of being late.
Because I’m also seasoned enough to know that rescheduling an appointment for four kids at the same time is nearly impossible. And they don’t appreciate your attempts to do so.
But we’ll just keep on, keeping on. Because that’s what seasoned mothers do, right?
Through The Lens Thursday is a self-improvement photography project that Alison and I are doing this year (again!).
Don’t forget to join our Flickr group or share your own posts if you’d like to follow along and work on your own photography! And use the hashtag #throughthelensthursday to connect with others working on it, too.
Next week’s prompt is FRUIT.

I love how you did this prompt! I feel quite "seasoned" as a parent too.. but yeah, stuff is still gonna get burned every now and then. LOL
I had been hoping to a great shot of my guy at the BBQ – only to go on the deck and discover, "um, where's my BBQ?"
apparently we got a new one and the man went off to get it…. unfortunately no time for a shot since it's still on the back of our trailer. 🙁
I might have to revisit this one.
I know exactly what you mean. Trying to get all three of mine to the dentist at the same time is always a pain in the neck but I'd rather make it work then take them all separately. As for parenting teens or Tweens, all I can say is take it one day at a time. My teen surprising,y doesn't give me too much aggravation but my newly minted tween on the other hand may not survive her teenage years! 😉
Ooh, good take on the prompt!
I think of you as absolutely seasoned – I am SO green in this parenting gig.
