We went to St. Louis this past weekend, and while I was at Bloggy Boot Camp, my kids, husband, and mom went to the City Museum and other fun stuff. While they were there, they got to pick out a souvenir, and the girls both chose crystal growing kits.
I, being the holder of an Earth Science degree, thought that was pretty cool. So, when they got home from school on Tuesday, we got the kits out and started the crystal growing process.
So what does that have to do with books? Well….you can see our “reading area” behind them, directly across from the kitchen, and you’ve probably seen it in a lot of my pictures. I don’t love everything about our house….not by a long shot. But, I do love that we have lots and lots and lots of books. (And yeah, they can look pretty messy, but. Everything in our house does sometimes.)
Through The Lens Thursday is meant for self-improvement, so please….constructive criticism is welcome!
Through The Lens Thursday is a self-improvement photography project that Alison of Writing, Wishing and I are doing this year.
Don’t forget to join our Flickr group or share your own posts if you’d like to follow along and work on your own photography! And use the hashtag #throughthelensthursday to connect with others working on it, too.
Next week’s prompt is TOGETHER.
Our books area is pretty messy too 🙂
That experiment looks fun!
That is one of my favorite things about our house as well, we are surrounded by books!
Great shots, by the way!
you know what – I love that the books are in the shot of everyday life happening. Those of us who love reading…or live to read perhaps; they are such a part of our landscape. Books are everywhere in our house too. The first bookshelf we ever bought overflowed long ago. Each child has bookshelf in their room, and our nightstands are really just literary towers. LOL
Everyone's life is a story, so I think it's so fitting that we are surrounded physically by stories.
I think when you have kids and you have books you generally have a MESS! I am committed, or I try to be, to clean up the books each night after the kiddos go to sleep because we LOVE books in our household too, but its not always easy to stay on top of it!
This is such a cool weekly project and I know I am learning lots. Greta, I hope you enjoyed St Louis! We went to the City Museum recently too. These are lovely photos of the girls doing their experiment.
Looks fun! I think these shots are great! Taking pictures inside is always tough, but I think you did a great job with the light available.
I love seeing your books in the background. How wonderful that they are so accessible, but yes, they do tend to get moved around, don't they?
And what a cool project! They look so focused! 🙂
Those crystal growing kits are amazing! And who doesn't love lots and lots of books?
