Through The Lens Thursday is a self-improvement photography project that Alison of Writing, Wishing and I are doing this year. See the bottom of the post for ways to join in!
The prompt this week is White, but I’d like to give an alternate title to this post: Leftovers.
This is a close up of the front porch fence at about 8am in the morning, with the Christmas lights that we have yet to take down. I haven’t felt at all motivated yet to take down the lights and put them away. (Update: late Monday morning, I did, in fact, take the lights down)
I’m loving the early morning light, and tried to focus on the white LED bulbs. You can also see more of the lights in the garden behind the fence.
This is leftover sleepies. Erv had just woken up, so his hair was doing the awesome bedhead thing that it does. Some days, he insists on bringing his “bapi” downstairs (pronounced “bah-pee”), which is the white I wanted to capture (along with the light coming in between the curtains onto his face). His bapis (of which he has several) are well-loved, so this “white” is a little dingier than some.
And this is my leftover addiction from our Christmas travels. My MIL had Redi Whip in her fridge, and I put some in my coffee. Now, I can’t seem to have it any other way (although, I still can’t get it to taste quite as good as I did at her house). I’m also still daydreaming about the relaxing I did in Florida last week, and have been using my souvenir mug from the resort all day every day.
Don’t forget to join our Flickr group or share your own posts if you’d like to follow along and work on your own photography! And use the hashtag #throughthelensthursday to connect with others working on it, too.
Next week’s prompt is REFLECTION.
I love the first one! It's a great perspective, and I like that they are sort of twinkling/ sparkly.
Thanks, Alison. I like it, too.
I love the light in that first one. And Erv is so dang cute. 🙂
Thanks, Elaine, I do too. And for a little stinker, he is pretty dang cute.
I often (too often) have whipped cream in my coffee. It's just too good! 🙂
The light picture is so unusual and pretty. I love that one!
Thanks, Jennie! And yeah…I can't quit the whipped cream. 🙂
Your photos have such great natural light! That's something I struggle with, especially indoors.
Thanks, Leigh Ann…it's pretty much only thanks to the huge picture window we have in the living room.
I've never had whipped cream in my coffee, this is something I need to try!
Only try it if you want your regular coffee to not be good enough anymore. 😀
I love kids that are attached to blankets. I think there is some thing so sweet about that. I had a cousin (who isn't sweet at all by the way) that LOVED his blanket. So much so that he wouldn't even let his mom pass it down to his son.
Ha! I still have my blanket and get a little testy when someone (small or not) tries to swipe it.
That pic of Erv captures his sleepy essence perfectly. I do love the lights in the first one, too…
And I never thought that whipped cream could taste better than just being squirted directly in the mouth. Excuse me, there's a can of redi-wip around here somewhere.
Great pics!
Mmmmm. Thanks, Andrea!
That last picture is making me wish I bought whipped cream at the grocery when I was there earlier today. Can't be much worse for you than coffee creamer, right?
I think it's better than creamer! Creamer, except for a select few, have a lot of unpronouncable ingredients. (That's not to say I don't ever use it. Ahem). But this particular whipped cream is made of real cream and sugar, so….I'm calling it better. 😉 And hey, we all have our vices, right? There are worse things. Ha!
I thought my neighbor was the only one with lights up still….LOL.
And ERV is just too adorable!!! Great photo for him to look back on someday – with his bapi!
We don't actually turn them on once we're all done with the Christmases. 🙂 But I do wait for a nice day to take them down, and I finally got one!
I don't even own a camera.
Sigh.
Thanks for sharing your own pictures so I can vicariously live the photography life.
Yours are delicious.
My iPhone is jealous.
Thank you, Julie! There's always someone better but I can try to improve my own photography, right?
Ohmygoodness that sleepy hair! LOVE!
He has the absolute BEST sleepy hair.
Yum! Whipped cream on coffee? And that cute little wake-up hair!
SO GOOD, Laura! But I know you're a black coffee gal. 🙂
I love the lights on the fence, it turned out with just the right amount of focus. I am happy to see the whipped cream came out well too!

Hee hee! Thanks, Clare!
