We went to the track on Sunday, because the weather (when it’s not raining), has been amazing. I hate to say this, because I don’t want it to get scared and go back to where it came from, but I think fall might actually be here. We also went because I hadn’t run since the half marathon and I was anxious to stretch my legs a little.
When we got there, Ivy put a notebook and pencil in her bike basket in case she “needed to stop and write a song.” Everything big sister does, little sister does, so the two of them were composing the whole time we were there.
Ivy’s song started out as “the latees on the street” (the ladies on the street), but thankfully, she changed it to this:
the letis, the letis, do you no the letis
the letis, the letis, do you no the letis
(and if you know how to spell already, it’s “the lettuce, the lettuce, do you know the lettuce”)
When we got home, Essie scribbled in the same notebook and asked us to sing her songs.
I love their creativity so much.

I mentioned it a little, but I’ve got a super exciting event coming up here….next Monday morning, I’ll have an auction (here, on my blog) to raise more money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Many people have very generously donated really amazing goods and services, and you’ll have the opportunity to bid on them. All of the money will go directly to LLS, so not only will you be able to get things for yourself or someone you know, but you’ll be helping a fantastic organization that does so much for blood cancer patients and their loved ones. You can check out a sneak preview of most of the items on my Facebook page.
Sarah at The Sunday Spill and I want to see your funny, your yummy, your heartfelt, your favorite phone photos of the week. All you need is a blog post containing at least one photo from any phone camera. Link up below!
Oh my gosh, that first photo! So awesome!!
Oh my gosh, that is so adorable!
That is so sweet, it amazes me how creative kids can be without even trying.
Your girls are so cute. Mine do the same and whatever big sister does, little wants to do as well – not always so easy to manage since they are 5 years apart. And yes, they make up songs and dances all. the. time. !!! 🙂

So awesome… I love seeing children express themselves through creative ways. Great shots.
I'm thrilled to be linking up with #iPPP for the first time this week.
They're writing songs! I love it.
Writing songs while wearing a helmet. I love it!
I love the picture of your daughter showing off her creation.
They're composing?! Oh, love!

It's wonderful that they'll be good and entertain themselves while you run. I've tried that before and well, it doesn't work so well with my kiddos!
That is the cutest thing ever! Need to write when inspiration strikes!!
I am positive that Cyrus chick could take a lesson or three hundred! She should be writing songs about lettuce too! Lettuce is a perfectly wonderful song topic and sitting on the bleachers is a fabulous place to explore that lyrical journey! I'm loving it!
See! They're writers too!
I love that they are writing songs! How awesome that Ivy wanted to take the notebook in her bike baske
*basket. (Sorry, I guess I hit enter before finishing my comment!) 🙂
Those images are precious! How do you stand it? Proud mama. 🙂
Excited for your fundraiser too! I just love your pics, beautiful kiddies 🙂
oh I love this so much. The creativity that kids have!!
I'd love to hear more about the ladies on the street 🙂
I am mother to 2 children who abhor writing. Like I'm torturing them if I ask them to do it. Holding out hope that once #3 whips spelling he'll enjoy it as much as I do!
In case she needed to stop and write a song? That is about the cutest thing I've heard. 🙂 Your kids are the best.
[…] I’m happy to see you here. You’ve seen me mention this blog auction before, so now I want to give you the details of how it’ll work and how you can participate. […]
You have to be ready when the muse hits ya! My daughter has tons of notebooks and crayons and pens and is always drawing or writing something, I can't really tell the difference between the 2 since she is only 2 lol.
Writing songs?!?! I love that so much. My oldest used to write rap songs before I started my blog so he probably thought no one would ever find out, but he was wrong. It was so cute. I love what you are doing with the auction. I can't wait to bid!!!! Have a great weekend Greta!
