Whew, this has been a crazy week. Besides the fact that my very first half marathon is in less than a week (OMG), I’ve been really busy trying to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training program. Plus, I’ve got a 31 party happening this week on Facebook to raise money for LLS, AND a super exciting blog auction coming up at the end of the month. You do NOT want to miss it….I’ve had so many awesome people donate so many awesome items, and 100% of the proceeds will go to LLS. So, stay tuned for more info on that!
And also….ACK! SEPTEMBER!
Sept 1
Labor Day weekend, and our family took a trip to Omaha. The weather was perfect for the zoo on Sunday.
Sept 2
Monday. Well, Monday was spent getting stuff ready for the week of school, and generally not sleeping very much.
Sept 3
Every day before lunch, Erv and I go to the school to pick up Essie from preschool, and every day, Erv is so excited to see her, and acts like he owns the place. It’s adorable.
Sept 4
Before school, Ivy wanted me to braid her hair like mine, and Essie wanted in the picture.
Sept 5
The best thing about this school year so far is that Ivy (in first grade) is assigned to read books almost every night, and Essie (in preschool) gets prizes for listening/being read to a certain number of times every month. This is the result:
Sept 6
The girls wanted to go watch our high school’s football game, and their daddy wanted to take them. Some of Ivy’s classmates were in the Cheer Clinic (grades K-2 were able to go early that night to learn and perform cheers at half time), but she only wanted to watch, not participate.
Sept 7
Finally, a night out with some girls. A bunch of our Kansas City LTYM cast met up to support our Julie, who co-directed and produced an absolutely hysterical production called Mother@&#$hood: A Musical Journey from A to Xanax. I desperately needed some time away from the house and kids. And, I took the time to poke fun of myself with this picture, of my “super cool” ride….my minivan.
So, really, except for Labor Day, we didn’t actually do much. But boy, was it exhausting anyway.
How was your week?
Look at you go on with your bad ass self. I find it so inspiring that you are taking your love of running and putting that passion into helping others in need.
I lurve your skirt. Didn't even know that there was a mom-mobile in the background
So excited for your upcoming race and LLS activities, and lookie you, you look good!
Isn't it funny how short, holiday weeks always seem so busy?
And yay for a fun night out! Always good to get out with friends and have a laugh. 🙂
You are one busy mama. I'm tired just reading about your activities!
The picture of the girls reading on the couch is magical. I hope they keep this habit up all year. After all, it is for school. 🙂
And the sassy night out outfit – you are adorable!
You look gorgeous! What a week you had.
Go Girl.
What minivan?
All I see is a hot runner chick in a sexy skirt.
Been thinking about you (as I am NOT running) and sending my best mental vibes for your half coming up.
You will be great.
Just remember this when you are feeling tired and slow (which WILL HAPPEN):
You are moving more quickly than everyone else in the world who is sitting on her couch.
The end.
p.s. I'm already proud of you.
I don't know why but that last photo of you looks very 80s-esque. They way your hair is or the sunglasses or something. I love it.
