Labor Day weekend! Our family always does something fun together, since the big holidays are touch and go for everybody’s schedules. So anyway, I’m writing this on my phone from a hotel room somewhere in Nebraska.
Aug 25
My very first half marathon is in two weeks. TWO WEEKS. I ran 10 miles Sunday (or rather, ran about 8 miles and huff and puffed the other two).
Aug 26
First day of preschool! Erv and I got a couple of hours ALONE.
And then it was time to pick up big sister.
AND, there was a sweet moment between Erv and our grumpy old cat, Bill. Or as Erv calls him, “my best Bill.”
Aug 27
It finally started getting really hot this week. Miserably hot. But, Essie talked me into going outside with her a little bit. She drew with chalk and I sat in the shade.
Aug 28
Our weekly storytime/moms’ group started up again. It was so strange to only have Erv with me, and even stranger to not have a kid go totally shy and not want me to leave the room. Erv was all “SEE YA.”
Aug 29
Essie came home with a “kiss” on her hands after reading “The Kissing Hand” in school. Such a sweet book.
And then when Essie and I met the bus after school, Ivy noticed that the locusts’ shells were all over the trees. So, of course, they had to collect them. (Henry wasn’t having it, though)
Aug 30
Essie pushed Ivy into the bathtub faucet and really loosened her kind of loose tooth (probably by accident). It came out the next day (and then the tooth fairy “got confused about the trip we were taking and I promise she’ll come tomorrow night.” Ahem.)

Hotel fun for Labor Day weekend!! And a birthday party for my niece and nephew, who both have birthdays in September.
Did you do anything fun for the long weekend?
Hope you had a great time away!
It was fun, and the kids had a blast!
So proud of you for all your running! Thanks for sharing your cute kids!
Thanks, Laura! I'm trying, at least. 🙂
Busy Busy Busy!!! Congrats on the running!!!
Thanks, Wendy! Busy, YES. 🙂
Oh, that tooth fairy. She is so inconsistent. 😉
How my guys love a hotel stay! So very exciting.
Way to go on your running – that is awesome, Greta! :0
Your kids are so stinkin' cute, Greta! I love the Erv and Bill shot. 🙂
You look totally ready for the half marathon!
Hotel fun is always awesome, except when it's time to sleep with a bunch of kids in one room 🙂
The kiss/heart on her hand is so sweet.
Erv. He's awesome. And he doesn't look even a teensy bit shy.
If you ever need my extensive list of reasons the tooth fairy couldn't come last night, let me know.
