To say last week was a long week is an understatement. Hubs is still out of town for work (seven days and counting), and Monday-Friday, we had two people at our house putting in our new windows. Which are fantastic, and exciting, and I love them. But having strangers in your house (or people you know, for that matter) all day every day for a week can wear on a girl.

We picked up the kids from their grandparents (another source of exhaustion….grandma detox). #kidlessweek was officially O.V.E.R.
Aug 5
My mom and I went to see the Broadway production of Footloose at Starlight Theatre in Kansas City Monday night. It was such a beautiful night, and a really fun show. I’d love to see another show there before the season is over!

I did a few Back to School posts over at CafeMom this week, so Ivy and I had a little photo shoot to get some pictures of the things we bought for her. Then, she highjacked the camera and took some really cute pictures.
Aug 7
We spent the whole day at my parents’ house (Henry was school shopping with them) while the main floor of our house was (literally) opened up for the windows. My mom took this picture of Erv after they got home and I went home by myself to make supper.

Did we do anything Thursday? Um….no. (solo parenting, house-taken-over fatigue was most definitely setting in) Except make faces with our lunch. This is Mr. Mustache (turkey slices, gluten free pretzel sticks, banana).

I took the big three to Legoland in Kansas City (and left Erv with grandpa), where we met Laura and her  two boys. The five kids get along so well and have so much in common (especially the boys), that I’m really glad that LTYM brought me and Laura together.
On the way home, we had lunch at Cheeseburger in Paradise, one of our favorite places to get gluten free meals. It was, like, 3pm, and pretty empty, so after we refueled and as I waited for the check, the kids danced on stage. Of course, they did.

It was my niece’s birthday, and we had her party in the park. The kids had a blast riding their bikes and playing on the equipment. I was McGrumpyPants, though, chasing after the toddler that doesn’t listen to me and dealing with a lot of tears from grumpy girls.
How was your week?
Since there are several pictures of me included in this post, I’m linking up with Nicolette and Susi again for #focusonmom this week (the 15th). You should, too…it’s your chance to get in the picture!
I can only imagine what it's like to have workers in the house for so long. We had workers in the house for weeks on end last summer when we had to get our bathroom redone due to a shower pan leak… Hope they'll be done soon. The kids are just too cute. Love seeing their smiling faces in pics!!! 🙂 You and your mom have the exact same smile… twins.
Isn't it a nightmare? I mean, what they're doing for you is fantastic, but that lack of privacy and set schedule in your own house is kind of awful. It took them all week, but they finished!
And thanks! I don't think my mom and I look that much alike, but we do have the same smile, don't we?
Oh my goodness! I love the faces 🙂
Hee hee! Thanks!
So freaking cute!
As always, I bow down to you for handling it all alone. You are amazing! And your kids are adorable.
I'm not sure if "handling it" is the right phrase. 😉 But thanks, Alison!
love reading about your week. Good for your for solo parenting and rocking it this week!
I don't know about rocking it, but we survived! That counts for something!!
You had a pretty busy week even though you were on your own. You get major points for all those activities!
So busy. I'm so glad I'm not on my own any longer (fingers crossed it stays that way for a while).
Love this pics!! Cuties all around 🙂
Thanks, Julie! I think so. 🙂
There is just so much going on. You always look really pretty in the pictures, I must say. 🙂 I don't look that good when there is so much going on.
Oh, thank you, Jennie. 🙂 I don't look so good when everything is chaotic, either. I just don't share those pics (if there are any). 😀
I love the pic of you and your Mom. My Mom is so camera shy. So every time I see the two of you on FB or Instagram I show my Mom and give her a hard time 😉 Ivy has quite the eye! Such beautiful images. And OMG yes grandparent detox is exhausting. I thought it was just us but it seriously takes days!
Oh, thanks for linking up with Focus on Mom this month!
Haha! My mom is totally fine with pictures, but my MIL HATES having hers taken. And no….grandma detox is absolutely REAL. 😀
