After two to three solid weeks of activities, straight out of the summer vacation gate, we’ve had a couple of weeks of completely unplanned, unfilled days.
It’s only now, in the last few days, started to get hot here, so there has been a lot of trampoline jumping, sand box playing, swinging, waking up late, and general laziness.
Yesterday, the big kids only stayed outside on the trampoline for a short time before coming inside and complaining of the heat and asking for drinks.
Ervin hasn’t been outside all day, though, so after supper, we unwrapped a new bubble gun and they played with it until they no longer felt the need to share.
Before that happened, it was bliss. They all love bubbles (who doesn’t), but it was like Erv was seeing them for the first time.
He stomped around the yard, chasing every last bubble before a new set was released, cheering for them and himself with his deliberately enunciated toddler language:
“More. BUBBLES! Hooray! More. Bubbles! Catch them, Ervin. Catch them! Pop. The. BUBBLES!”
And then he got a hold of the bubble gun, refused to give it up, and the fun was over.

So fun! My little guy is loving the bubbles this year, too. And when they come out stuck together in those bubble clusters it is so very exciting. 🙂
You can see how thoroughly happy he was in that first photo – so cute!
Bubbles are so much fun until they are not. My mom had bubbles for all the kids this past weekend and still they all wanted to use the same wand!!! 🙂 Erv is a cutie though – hope he's forgiven.
I LOVE that bubble picture!! Pure bliss!
Ha ha! That last line. I know the "fun ending" well. Love the photo above that though. 🙂
Oh how cute! Love the bubble. Sorry I'm so late. I had to do some major photo editing on those photos. I didn't want Wal-Mart outshining my peeps. lol
I love the picture of him popping the bubbles. So cute.
Bubbles can make any day better.
I love Erv's face, pure love and excitement.
We love our bubbles!
Kids and bubbles go together like peanut butter and jelly.
Ha! Typical kid. 😉 But I love the look of joy. Precious!
Have you done the big bubbles with dish soap yet? I remember those from back in the day… The "wand" was two straws held together with string…
He is so adorable! They all are but Erv expression is priceless. Such simple joy. Love it!
I cannot believe how much my kids love bubbles. It's insane. He's so happy!
The bubble gun is a very addictive thing. My toddler can't remove her finger from it and it's all gone in 5 minutes.
Bubbles Bubbles Bubbles are the best! Sometimes I blow them just to cheer myself up. I always remember the line from Knocked Up "I wish I loved anything as much as my kids love bubbles." So true so true, and so cute!
Oh bubbles, such a fun and cheap toy. 🙂
kids love bubbles so much!!! Man! I love the idea of them but when it comes time to get them out… yikes.
Love these pics.
That reminds me – I need to get bubbles for the summer!
That's what I love about unplanned summer days! And I swear bubbles never get old, they are such simple joy. I had a friend, a bit eccentric older woman, who used to blow bubbles out her window when stuck in traffic jams just for the fun of it and she said even the grumpiest person in their car would smile. Because who doesn't love bubbles!?!
Oh, I ADORE that last picture!! And the cheering himself on? PRICELESS. Made me smile.
