If you’ve been following along with my running goals for the year, and especially if you like my page on Facebook (if you don’t, you totally should), you know I’ve been trucking along. I’m running between 12-15 miles a week, and this past Friday, I hit 100 HUNDRED MILES!
When I started the year and made it my goal to run (not walk) 500 miles, I didn’t really think I could do it. Or rather, I thought I could but that I would be pushing it. I figured out that I would have to do 10 miles a week and have two weeks “leftover” to make up for weeks that I slacked on or couldn’t get 10 miles in.
Well. If I was doing that, I’d be at around 80 miles after this first 8 week period. BUT, if you’re paying attention, I’m now at 103.1 miles, as of Saturday.
Because I also ran my third (virtual) 5K of the year (out of the 13 I made it my goal to complete). The first one, in January, I ran (without stopping) in just barely over 40 minutes. The second one, a couple of weeks ago, I finished in 37:36. This one? I ran in 35:50. WOOHOO! I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep cutting two minutes off of my time (or if I ever will again), but the last two have been personal bests for me, and I’m really proud.
So. Now you’re all caught up on my progress. Here’s to 396.9 more miles!

I love your goal. My goal is to train and run a half marathon this year. Two summers ago was averaging 110 miles a month so I know I can do it and so can you!!!
Thanks, Kristin! We can do it!!
Go Greta Go! Your optimism and energy are contagious!
Thank you so much, Hillary!! I'm so excited that you're going to join me!
Go you! That's amazing and you're so going to hit more PBs, and surpass your original 500 mile goal.
Thank you, Alison! I hope so!
Also, just read Tracy's post about running, and she recommended an app, Charity Miles http://charitymiles.org, which gives 25 cents to a charity of your choice, for every mile you run. It's downloadable to your phone. Figured if you're running anyway, it'd be a great way to give back.
Awesome job. Such an inspiration
Holy shit that's a lot of miles. Great job!
Wow, I am totally amazed! Way to go, Greta!
I like that the goals you make are achievable with a little sweat. We are in the end of February and you have already done over 100 miles you will pass that goal soon.
Way to go! I have been trying to establish a regular exercise routine this year and it is inspiring to see your updates – you're doing so great!
