As I mentioned before, we do Labor Day big in my family. Every year it’s different, but for the past 15 years, we’ve always done something.
It’s a big deal, because my parents had four kids, and we have given them 11 grandchildren, so get-togethers, for us, are chaos and noise and fun and kind of hard to organize. It’s really hard for us to all make it to the same Christmas and Thanksgiving shindigs, when you factor in all of us and all of our in-laws. But who makes a huge holiday out of Labor Day? Just us! It’s a given that we’ll be busy that weekend, so we generally don’t plan anything else.
Anyway. So this year, we celebrated two September birthdays at the same time, my niece (who’ll be two at the end of the month), and my nephew (who’ll be three next week). We went to a park, rode bikes, played in the playground and volleyball court, and ate lots of pizza, cake and ice cream.
Here are some of my favorite pictures, of my family of six, from this past weekend.

What a great Labor Day! I love how it's all about the family.
Glad you guys had fun!
That's exactly it–all about family! We had a ton of (exhausting) fun!
Love all your family pictures – and your matching shirts. Looks like a fun time!
It was! And you know, those bright green shirts were awesome for finding each other. 🙂
I love that you do Labor Day in a big way. So cute in your matching shirts!
Haha, thanks! My mom had them made, and is always the main organizer. She does a lot of work to get us together and having fun!
This inspires me to make more of a whoop-de-do out of Labor Day.
How can you fail? You've got a built in three day weekend and warm weather. 😀
I love the t-shirts! What a great idea. Love that your family celebrates Labour Day weekend so big. Fun!
All of the credit goes to my mom (shirts and planning)! It's always fun!
I love that you have shirts made for the event. Looks like a good time was had by all. I would have needed a nap after a day like this but then again I'm always in the mood for a nap.
They were our first Labor Day shirts…my mom had them made. I guess the 15th annual is a big deal! (I totally needed a nap. It was after bedtime by the time we got home, though)
not gonna lie, "blow out" made me think of bursting diapers. so glad it wasn't that kind of weekend 😉
Hahaha! Not this time. Whew!
Anything that gets family together, is a good thing 🙂
Absolutely. All but two of us live close, so there's no excuse!
Thank you! They're so cute together, I always take a ton of pictures of them!
Love the matching shirts!! I wonder if I can get my teens to wear them…. LOL! Probably not.
A Labor Day blowout is a great idea to get the entire family together! Especially when all the other holidays are so busy!
It is–no excuses! I think the adults felt a tiny bit silly wearing matching shirts, but we did it for my mom. 🙂 And, it made for good pictures and easy family spotting! Maybe if you let the teens help design them….. 😉
Looks like you guys had fun. It sounds just so nice to get everyone together… I miss that. We used to have big family shindigs in Germany where everyone got together. I'm hoping we can make it to my aunt and uncles 25th wedding anniversary party next year because everyone will be there. So many I haven't seen in such a long time. Sigh!!!
Looks like such a fun day! I love when people have big family gatherings and matching t's, it always looks like so much fun.
