My mom and I did our second 5K this morning, and the big three kids ran in their own races. It was put on to raise money for a local moms’ group of which we are not a part. But, we’ve been working hard lately and thought it would be fun, especially since the kids could participate.
The kids did great (there was a little issue with Henry’s pants, which contrary to popular belief, were NOT going to fall off of him), and my mom and I ran a good part of the race (walked the rest), beating our last time by at least 6 minutes. And again, we were NOT LAST. Awesome!
The morning was chilly, and sunny, and gorgeous for a 9am race.
While none of us finished first, we all finished, and mostly had a good time doing it (with a little grumpiness thrown in for good measure). I’m proud of us!

[…] to spend the night. It was awesome to get to get ready for the run by myself, but I think it also contributed to the grumpiness. This guy, though, he got to go to supper at the pizza place with his mama and daddy, and stay up […]
What a wonderful morning for all of you. You should be proud of the great example you are setting!
And seriously, they are too cute for words!
They are pretty cute, aren't they? Even Grumpy McGrumpypants. 🙂 Next year, we'll get Erv in there, too. I hope they see what we do and absorb it!
That's so awesome!
Henry is adorable, the pants holding up is so cute!
Haha, it was cute. Silly, but cute. All in all, it was a fun event!
Henry! That is too funny that he held his pants up the whole time. I love that the kids had their own races. And way to go you and your mom! Looks like a fun day.
Oh how I LOVE that you did this together!!
I also love that you did this all together! And with your mom no less! Wow! And all of you are altogether too damn adorable!
That is so awesome. I love that you ran together. What a beautiful memory you created!
What an awesome thing to do as a family!
If I ever run a race, I want finish line tape just for participating.
Congrats to you for doing the race. I'm not much of a runner but I admire people who are.
[…] exactly one week, I will turn 32 years old. I think I look pretty good for 32, and Lord knows, I feel better than I have in a long […]
Look at how far you have come! Not all that long ago the thought of a 5k was out of the question and now . . . two totally under your belt! You are a damn good inspiration my dear.
My kids need to get a wee bit bigger and I am so going to sign them up for the Spartan Kid race. It just seems up their alley!
