Welcome back to #iPPP! Mama Mash and I want to see your funny, your yummy, your heartfelt, your favorite phone photos of the week. Link up below!
We love Halloween in our house. I don’t quite understand it, since the two oldest are scared of everything that’s even a little bit scary, but they get excited starting in, like, August. Henry loves to pretend to be a vampire, or monster, or whatever.
When Henry was four, he went as a skeleton for Halloween and a mummy for his birthday party. Last year for Halloween, he was a pirate. And we went to a house while we were trick or treating that had someone sitting in front of the garage scaring people (you know…sitting in a chair, acting like a stuffed scarecrow thing until someone gets close and then “AAGH!”). They didn’t actually get near this person, just saw it happen from across the street, and still talked about it for months. They talk about it now when the subject of trick or treating comes up.
They also have various memories that Just. Won’t. Die. from Worlds of Fun and Cracker Barrel.
This year, Henry already has his costume, and I’ve had the costumes for the other three bought since right after Halloween last year (they’ll be a super cute set).
Henry’s birthday falls in the middle of October, and he’ll be seven. For the second time in his short life, he’s decided on a Halloween-themed party, and he’s already planning it. Monday morning, we had a conversation on the way to school about what games we would play.
Regardless of what happens during the party, this guy will be there:
The big three spent the morning with my mom (the resident scarecrow expert) building this guy. I’m not sure what his name is yet. I do know that he was going to have a mask for his face, but apparently, they were all too scary. So, he ended up with a plastic bag/electrical tape face, and a bright red wig. Whatever.
If you come to my house, don’t worry. He’s pretty friendly. Unless he hasn’t had his skull cup full of coffee (and rocks) yet.
Is your family excited for Halloween?
All of these photos were from my phone, and I played around with them in PicMonkey.

My oldest is already walking around in a vampire cape with fake teeth. It's going to be a long month…
It really is. I have a rule about wearing the costumes only once (at the birthday party) before Halloween. Then after, they can wear them as much as they want. Just not to school, hopefully.
I'm still at the "cute" phase with costuming Monkey, since he has no input yet. And, since I can't eat all his candy, I'm sort of bummed about Halloween this year. 🙂
Henry makes an excellent vampire.
I would be so bummed. Stick that sh*t in the freezer and you can eat it in April!
Haha!! that's awesome! Love the new watermark font too! Very…scary! I am not ready for Halloween yet, but we do have a costume for my daughter already. What do you do with a 1 year old on Halloween? :-/ Show her off at the mall? 🙂
That's what I was going for! It's so much fun, having a baby on Halloween. Take her trick or treating around a few houses in the neighborhood, or a costume contest/party, eat all her candy. 😀
I'm skerred. Of the scarecrow. For real.
Haha, his electrical tape eyes and mouth are hard to take too seriously.
I'm still scrambling and trying to figure out what we're going to do. I have a couple of options now- but this will mean that we pack the shark, lion & giraffe with us. What a motlew crew! I love your goth watermark- makes them even spookier 🙂
Heehee, that's what I was going for! Your boys are going to be SO CUTE. I'm seriously getting excited for IG Halloween pictures of all of the kids!
We did a fake pumpkin guy on our porch a few years, too. We loooove Halloween. So much so that I wrote a (brief) post with real words from the English language about it yesterday. As you may know, it's been a while since I did that.
That first pic of Henry is awesome. You may have a little actor there.
See, Halloween will do that to you! I'll probably be sick of writing about it in the next month. 🙂
I totally do have a little actor. He is SO dramatic. He went to a theater camp through his school this past summer and it was adorable.
I LOVE Halloween! I think this is the last year i get to decide for mr. pants. i tried to let him pick his costume this year and he didn't get it. Looked at me like I was crazy lol. This year I'm thinking Plum as dorothy and Pants as Scarecrow. We'll see if I actually pull that together lol
I LOVE Henry's costume!
I wasn't sure my kindergartner would go for the costume I chose for her (on clearance, after Halloween last year), but she did! She has pretty strong opinions, though, so I bet it'll be the last time here, too.
The scarecrow and Dorothy would be SO CUTE! Ack!!
Our youngest is an October baby too. When he came along I thought I'll have tons of Halloween birthday parties. But maybe because he's the third or so close to Halloween and all the other hectic hoopla — we've never done it. Love your stuffed man. I always thought we'd make a scarecrow man of sorts to sit on our porch in fall. Nope. Not done that either.
Aw, well, I know you've done lots of other fun stuff! Our kids are just so crazy about Halloween that I can't avoid it. The scarecrow was completely Henry's idea, as were the Halloween themed birthday parties!
Oh yeah, mine started talking Halloween last month, too. So far 2 want to be ghosts and I already know the idea of a white sheet sounds super easy but it's not….need to start researching this. My youngest wants to be a cat…again, and my oldest is creating his own scary costume from stuff around the house. At least that's the plan for now. Today we are going to Spanish playgroup to make an espantapajaros…scarecrow in Spanish 🙂
A ghost sounds like a logistical nightmare to me! Ha! I would LOVE to see what your oldest comes up with. How fun is that?!
I love Halloween!! I'm not sure if it's because it's part of fall… also my fav… or what! But as soon as August ends we start pulling out all the fall decor and it stays out until Christmas!
Exactly, here too!! The candy, the pumpkins, the amazing weather, my birthday (hee hee). I love it all!
We love halloween! Last year we were "the zoo"…I made "nametags" for me and Kelsey that said Austin FAmily Zoo…we were both zookeeprs (thank you Goodwill) and Luke was a zebra…and the dog was an elephant 😉 This year, Luke is going to be Charlie Brown (while he's still bald), I'm going to be Lucy and we haven't decided what Kelsey will be yet….I'd say Linus but you know…brother and sister. And the dog will be snoopy (of course).
THAT. IS. AWESOME. All of it. I bought the smallest three costumes on Halloween clearance last year in November…Ivy will be a zookeeper, Essie a koala, and Erv a meerkat. I might be another animal, but Henry apparently wants me to be a vampire bride. HA!
So you're saying I probably shouldn't take Lil Duck to Halloween Haunt this Friday with the boys? I haven't been there yet with her…heck I haven't even been there during Halloween period. I'm not sure I want memories that JUST WONT DIE…unless its fun times. Those can stay alive. 😀
Love the costume!
Haha, probably not. I don't know about other kids, but my kids hang on to scary (for them) experiences and bring them up so much that I absolutely can't stand talking about it anymore! But yes, the fun memories are welcome to stay. 😀
Looks like Halloween is so much fun at your house!
We throw down on Halloween.
Last year my son was Scooby Doo. The husband was Shaggy and I was Daphne. It was pretty epic. Then for the adult party we formed the whole cast of scooby doo. Gah I love Halloween
You guys are AWESOME. What are you going to be this year?! Whatever you are, I hope there'll be pictures!!
