Wow, I can’t believe we’re halfway through May already! Ivy finished preschool on Friday, and Henry’s last day of kindergarten is next week.
Holy moley.
Most of my pictures this week are from Instagram, except the first two.
May 6
We spent the day at the Deanna Rose Farmstead in KC with the Plum District-Kansas crew, and the kids had SO much fun. Fishing, goat petting, BBQ hot dog eating, old-fashioned schoolhouse exploring, tractor driving.

Henry had a “specials’s program, which was Art/PE/Music for grades K-5. The kindergartners did the Chicken Dance for their PE. Ha! I took a few pictures with my much-loved camera, but the lens that came with it doesn’t do much for far away/gymnasium pics. Any advice on what would be better? I did get this photo of the girls with my dad (T. was out of town all week for work, so he missed it).

Speaking of my dad, I’m really lucky to have him come over everyday so I can do school drop off and pickup without loading up the little two every time. As a result of this two-on-one time and the fact that my dad regularly rocks Erv to sleep while I’m picking up Ivy, they have a special relationship. If Erv sees Grandpa on the lawnmower, he yells out the door “Ba-pa! Ba-pa!” If we mention Grandpa when he’s not around, Ervin looks toward the window and says his name. It’s adorable.

Ervin and Ivy have been sick all week, so I didn’t take the little two to our Mom’s Group/Storytime this week. Essie was sad, so I told her she could go to ballet with me and Ivy. Those girls are pretty stinking cute together. I hope they always get along like this.

I mentioned that I dropped the ball on Mother’s Day gifts, but the post office actually helped me out this week and everything was delivered on time. Henry helped me make the cards (I’m SO glad he can write now!).

I was spoiled ROTTEN this week by my family for Mother’s Day. I got beautiful flowers from my husband and MIL, a Gluten Free meal planning subscription from another MIL, a pair of glorious houndstooth TOMS shoes, and all kinds of goodies from the kids that they made (or grew) at school. I’m a lucky girl.
(I used this tutorial to make my collage at picmonkey.com, before the collage function is offered. Awesome!)

Speaking of lucky, my parents watched the kids so my handsome hubby and I could go out on a very rare date night. He might kill me for this, but isn’t he cute?! Love you, T. I’ve been missing you!
How was your week?
I love that your dad is so supportive and that he has a great relationship with the kids – that's so special!
And oh my, such awesome gifts! Love the shoes!
I know, right?! I'm a lucky girl (in all respects).
My son is also in love with my dad.
You can’t even whisper his name in our house without my son going all ape shat looking for him or begging him to come over….
Beautiful pictures and happy moms day to you xoxo
Haha, that's too funny. Grandpas are something special, for sure. I hope you had a fabulous Mom's Day, Kim! (Are you feeling any better?)
Awesome gifts! Sounds like they spoiled you – the way it should be! Hey – do you feed your kids gluten free meals too, or just you?
They did spoil me! Our whole family eats gluten free at home, because child #3 has celiac. She's almost 3 so to be safe, I do it whole hog. Ha!
