***Before I tell you all about our week, don’t forget that tomorrow (Saturday) is the LAST day to enter my Mabel’s Labels Giveaway. Get on it, folks!***
Well, because of Labor Day on Monday, this was a short week. But it felt very, very LONG.
This is what went down:
Monday was a relaxing day, for the most part. We went to the park, enjoyed the sunshine and the gorgeous weather. Have I mentioned the weather lately?
On Tuesday, the kids went back to school, after (of course) not getting enough sleep and having too much holiday fun over the weekend. Henry did much better at drop-off time, but that morning was the first time (after a whole week of going to preschool) that she cried when I left. What the…? She was tired, and she got over it.
After Erv and I picked her up, we went to my dentist appointment. Fun stuff. I have a cavity. But on the plus side, Ivy was SO well-behaved! And then we went a few blocks over to her ballet class. There was an obstacle course. And there were magic wands and free-form dancing. I have video.
Um…and in case you hadn’t noticed, I don’t know how to rotate the video. Just tilt your head a little and you’ll be fine.
Wednesday was CRAZY. The kids’ school didn’t start until 9am. Which should have meant that I’d have more time to get them ready. But that would imply that I still got up at 6:11am. Instead, I chose the extra hour of sleep.
Did I mention that my dad has been out of town all week? He’s the one that usually comes over in the mornings and watches the little E’s when I have to drop the big two off or pick up Ivy. I’ve realized this week just how dependent on him I am. It was the first week that I had to get all four kids up and in the car in time for school. And by “in time” I mean “as close to in time as I can get, which is a few minutes PAST in time”.
So anyway, it was a late start day AND I was also signed up to help in Ivy’s class at 10am. But my dad/babysitter was not home, so I had to drive the kids to school, then drive E. Belle to my sister-in-law, then drive BACK to the school. I barely made it. And I was petrified the whole time I was in Ivy’s class, because during all of that driving, I couldn’t nurse Ervin (Mr. Can’t-Get-Enough-To-Eat-This-Week and CRYING CRYING CRYING all the dang time) and I was sure he was going to cry the whole time. But I also wasn’t going to nurse him in the class and be the one to explain to 14 preschoolers what I was doing. Actually…Ivy probably would’ve done it for me. Not sure that’s better.
But, I rocked him in his car seat and we held off until we were done with Centers. At which point I took him outside and fed him in the gorgeous sunshine (there I go again with the weather).
The rest of Wednesday and Thursday were pretty laid back. Except Thursday morning…yeah, that was crazy. Ivy was almost late to school (her class starts 10 minutes earlier than Henry’s). Thank goodness for the 15 minute get-ready-for-class/play/hang out time.
