Since T. is in the middle of his two weeks’ vacation from work, we decided to go do something fun with the kids on one of our “off” days (as in, a day without a Christmas). E. Belle stayed with grandma and grandpa on Wednesday, and we took the big two to the T-Rex Cafe in Kansas City. This guy is what greeted us, and what almost prevented us from getting in the door. To say Henry was a little scared is a gross understatement. I had to drag him past the enormous T-Rex to get him to our table.
This guy is what was staring at me the whole time we ate (and roaring every once in a while). Thankfully, the kids were in the booth seat and couldn’t see him while they were sitting.
This is what they looked like for about ten minutes after we sat down.
Henry took a walk with T. to go check things out after a while, and when they came back, he was a little more open to the place.
After we ate, the kids used their Christmas money from Nana to make some dinosaurs in the Build-A-Dino section. Oh, and they also used Essie’s money and Bean’s money to make one for each of them as well. Ivy’s favorite part, by far, was picking out the clothes. She picked out her dino’s clothes, Essie’s dino’s, AND Bean’s. They turned out super cute.
Ivy got a Christmas dress from grandma that came with a matching dress for her doll. When we got home, the dinosaur tried it on.
I was also a VERY busy little bee this week. Last week, I made a squid doll for Henry and an owl for each of the girls. Well, somehow I got a bee in my bonnet to get a few more patterns from www.bitofwhimsydolls.com and make something for my nieces and nephews for our get-together the day after Christmas. I made them assembly-line style, and they actually worked up pretty quickly. These dinosaurs (the one on the far right is for Bean, and I had issues with Henry’s, so it still isn’t done) were finished Christmas afternoon. The three on the left were for my nephews. My youngest nephew seemed to like his a lot….I’m not sure about the other two. I know they’re getting older and probably didn’t think it was all that cool, but I had fun making them.
The owls for the girls, however, were a hit. All of these except the pink and yellow gal in the middle were for my nieces. And they all did seem pretty excited about them. I had a lot of fun picking out the fabrics for each of them, based on their favorite colors and all of that. The yellow and pink one is for a friend’s girlfriend, and she should be getting it very soon, so I hope she likes it, too!
LOVE the owls. I want one!!!
