In my last post (which seems like forever ago), I mentioned the “impending move”. Well, as you may have guessed, the reason it has been forever since I’ve written is that the move is HAPPENING. I can’t say it’s happened, because between my dad and my husband last weekend, and our two houses, the move has not been completed. Which makes me a little crazy, but it’s also good because we have SO much stuff to find a place for that the few pieces of furniture and the boxes left to move still need to find a space to occupy here at our new house.

We have been sleeping in our new house since Saturday night, though, so we’ve been living in a sort of claustrophobic chaos that I’m sure you remember if you’ve moved in the last, oh…ten years or so (I don’t think it’s something you easily forget). But I have made quite a dent in the number and placement of boxes in the last two days, so I feel good about that.

While the big two were in Dodge City with their grandparents (was it last week or the week before? Geez…) I painted Henry’s room in our new house.

He wanted a pirate room, and I pretty much painted it just like the ocean-theme nursery he had years ago (the crib and pink decorations have since been moved). When they got back from their trip, I took him over to the new house to see it, and for the entire week leading up to the move, he wanted to go over and check on it to “make sure it’s okay” because the “pirate room needs me”. Needless to say, he was pretty excited when he finally got the sleep in it.

The kids didn’t handle the whole moving weekend all that well.

This is Ivy at the new house one of the afternoons while she was supposed to be taking a nap. But since she was with her grandparents, she didn’t have to try too hard to actually sleep. So, no naps plus a lot of excitement and confusion equals a moody little girl.

She did get to dress up in mama’s clothes while she was “helping” pack, though.

Actually, while the dressing-up was happening, I had a jewelry show to do. My hostess and her guests were very gracious…I was a little out of it. I was distracted and not as prepared as I usually am, so I don’t feel very good about the “show” I put on, but there was a lot going on for everybody, so the ladies saw the jewelry again, made their selections, and left with smiles on their faces. I have another show on Thursday, so I’m going to try to redeem myself at that one!

So anyway, Sunday was filled with more moving and packing, but very little motivation or energy from the parties involved. We didn’t get a lot done…Henry and I went to church that morning because I had signed up to teach his Sunday School class that day. Which was fun (nerve-wracking for me, but fun), but obviously I couldn’t get anything unpacked or packed during that time.

Henry stayed in his Sunday School clothes all day (he had on a long-sleeved shirt and pants because that was the only nice outfit I could find that morning). He insisted they were his pirate clothes, so why would he change?

It’s been a long couple of weeks, but my hubby reminded me yesterday that my sample sale is a week from Thursday, so it won’t slow down anytime soon! Next up: Baby Belle (who’s 11 months old today) and Ivy are turning one year older in July, and Ivy, though she doesn’t know it yet, will soon be the lone soldier in potty-training boot camp. Wish us luck!
