Okay, so this is the last blog in the series of three, and then I’ll be caught up…for a few days at least.
I hope everyone had a great Easter! We had a fun weekend…T’s mom came to visit on Friday to round out the Spectacular Grandmas and Grandpas Week! Unfortunately, T’s dad had to work and couldn’t make it, but he’s been told that he has to come along next time. I had a show on Friday (which was a lot of fun, with a lot of fun girls), so everybody hung out at home with grandma and since it was T’s turn to cook, pizza was ordered (he does actually cook very well, but not exactly frequently…unless you count pancakes almost every weekend). Saturday, (while Essie napped) we colored monster eggs. What else would they be, with this house of Scooby Doo fanatics?!
And speaking of monsters, Essie became the Easter egg monster and bit the top off of a couple before she was removed from within reach of the eggs.
While they were decorating (and chewing on) their eggs with grandma, I was sewing some dolls for their Easter baskets. They turned out pretty cute, I think. These two are Essie’s…I ended up making one for Ivy, too.
That night, T and I had a date night (yay!). There actually weren’t any movies that we really wanted to see, so we went bowling. Normally, I do kick his butt at bowling (even while I’m pregnant, which is a major source of pride for me). That night, though, he beat me twice out of three games. And no matter what he says, I did not lose without integrity…there were plenty of high fives given! We then went to dinner, where he watched one of the final four games on his phone while I read facebook posts and emails. It was so romantic. After that, we went to Tar-jhay, and he followed me around while I shopped for some warm-weather jewelry show outfits. We also had a shoe incident that I’m sure I’ll be hearing about for a long, long time…I tried on some shoes and finally found a pair that were cute sandals to wear to shows, and headed to the checkout. We waited in line for a few minutes (Tyson will say it was ten minutes or three hours, depending on his mood) when I happened to glance at the label on the shoes and saw that they were actually a size 10 (I wear a 7 1/2 or 8). I had a moment of panic, even though I had tried them on, because how in the world could I fit into a 10?! So we went back to the shoe department, where I tried on a 7 1/2 (too small), the 10 again (with Tyson’s insistence, which was a little too big), and then a 9. A 9! It fit! What in the world?! I know this seems trivial, but to a woman….I think it’s par for the course. Anyway, I blame the children, who have progressively made my feet wider and wider with each pregnancy. And strappy sandals are the worst. But you know…they’re necessary.
Anyway, back to the important stuff, like Easter eggs.
Easter morning, the kids woke up and had two Easter baskets EACH waiting for them (one from us/the Easter bunny, and one from grandma).
My niece has her birthday on April 1 (no joke!), so we had a combo birthday/Easter party on Sunday for her. The kids hunted Easter eggs in their big yard, on a beautiful, sunny day.
Oh, and because Ivy was in her grandma’s care for a while, she took off her dress and shoes and hunted eggs in her Dora pull-up.
My cousin brought her horse, so we took turns riding her around (the horse, not my cousin), and my brother grilled yummy food for lunch.
It was a very good but exhausting day! Our three were in need of a nap (especially the big two), so there were plenty of moments when they weren’t exactly Easter angels. But we all had fun!
Oh, and we took the obligatory group photo (actually we took about 15 each, I think, because there are 10 kids now and you know how that can turn out without ample attempts).
And yes, we too now have WAY too much candy in the house.
Looks like you had a great Easter! Ours was filled with puke and poop đ I am really sad that the Hein side has given up on gatherings…I think we may have to just do a cousins gathering, huh?
