Last Thursday, Henry and Ivy went to the dentist for the very first time. In their lives. Yep. I wasn’t really looking forward to taking them, as I have a slight aversion to the dentist myself, but it was time. And I read a great review for this pediatric dentist in Lawrence at a place called Growing Smiles, so I thought that if it was going to somehow be a good experience, that was our best shot.
So, we get there Thursday morning, and it has the coolest waiting room. So many toys, and video games, and Finding Nemo was playing, and it was decorated in this soothing and very pretty light green.
Essie got to just chill for a while…
After hanging out with all of the cool toys for a while, they were taken back to a big open room with three dentist chairs, all with their own TV screens on the ceiling above them and murals of flowers and animals all over the walls.
They picked out their toothbrushes: Henry’s is a green one that lights up, and Ivy’s is pink with ladybugs. They picked out their chocolate toothpaste, and Ivy got her teeth brushed and counted. She wasn’t too excited about it, but she got through it and it was on to the next thing for her. Henry, on the other hand….he wouldn’t let anyone near his mouth. He actually covered it with his hands and shook his head, saying it was too scary. Of course, because everything is scary to Henry!
When the actual dentist came in, she was a little stern with Henry because he still wasn’t cooperating, and you know, he needed it. He finally let her check his teeth and clean them, even though he wasn’t exactly quiet. Okay, he yelled the whole time. But everyone got through it, pretty much. And when they weren’t trying to see his teeth, he was just dandy.
Oh, and Ivy LOVED the stuffed monkey with Very realistic teeth.
Very fun! I wish I had taken pictures of Nate's first time to the dentist…
