The girls and I have a yucky cold…poor Essie has a nasty cough, but she has learned to blow the snot out of her nose with these cute little pretend sneezes! Lucky for her (and me) because we all know how much babies hate those nasal aspirator things. So today there is a lot of cleaning to do, but it’s not really in danger of getting done.

Yesterday was a fun day for us. I had my very first one-on-one with a woman who was interested in learning more about my business and how to get started. She’s mulling it over as we speak, and I hope that she is able to find a place in her life for it. The meeting with her has also given me an itch to help other ladies by sharing the opportunity with them. Of course, because the company is so generous, bringing a new jeweler in would benefit me and my family, but more than that, it could change the new jeweler’s life as it has mine. I went to a regional rally in Kansas City a couple of weekends ago, and met so many women who had started as a jeweler years ago and had gone on to quit their day job and now are able to stay at home with their kids. And my sponsor does well when I do well, so she wants me to succeed, but she’s not the only one that I’ve gotten encouragement and support from. I can email or call any of the other jewelers (even the “leaders” in the company who have dozens of jewelers working under them) and ask them a question or get some advice when I need it.

When I was in middle school and high school, I did a lot of extracurricular activities (track, band, choir, forensics) and I loved them all. But I was only ever average at any of them! I think I got one ribbon in track and maybe a couple of third-places in forensics. Needless to say, I wasn’t really recognized for anything. Now, though, I’ve got all of these goals to work toward, because my company is all about recognition. I’ve only been doing this for a couple of months, and I’ve already achieved my first goal and am well on my way to reaching others. And not only do I have my own personal satisfaction of reaching these goals and winning the prizes that go along with them, but at the next rally, I’ll be called on stage and recognized. And I think it’s about dang time I was recognized for something!

I hope that if there’s someone out there who could use this in her life, she’s brought to me so I can help her. And meanwhile, I’m going to try to keep these runny noses wiped!
