Through The Lens Thursday

I read a lot of blogs and see A LOT of pictures every day. Some are amazing, and leave me with a little twinge of…jealousy? Or perhaps wanting? Wistfulness? I want to learn how to take pictures that people think are amazing, that make someone stop scrolling through Facebook and focus on the image. I want to fill albums or photo books with pictures that I’m proud of.

I want to be confident each time I pick up my Nikon, and use my brand new Lightroom software to edit smartly, thoughtfully, easily.

In 2014, I want to be better at photography. I want to pick up my camera and shoot. I want to shoot in RAW. I want to learn everything about editing. And so does my friend, Alison of Writing, Wishing.

Together, we conceived the idea of a one-year photography project, Through The Lens Thursday. Once a week (yes, on Thursday), we will post a picture (or pictures) we have taken based on a prompt. Our hope is that together, we can teach and learn from each other, stay accountable to our goal of improving our skills, and hopefully, be taking some gorgeous photographs.

I read about this on Alison's blog and I'm excited for you two to do this project together. I don't even own a big girl camera, my daughter is the photographer in the family… I love my new iphone though and I feel like it's making me better at taking pictures, just because it's such a great camera…
